1983 Season, the Arizona Wranglers were original charter member of
the USFL. The Wranglers started off with 4-4 mark. The lowest scoring
team dropped the next ten games to finish off the season at 4-14 and
missing the playoffs. In 1984 Season, major trade happened. Involving owners, players, and coaches. Bruce Allen, Dr. Ted Diethrich, and the Chicago Blitz became the Arizona Wranglers, while Wranglers of '83 became the Blitz. Arizona Wranglers slipped into the playoffs getting the wild card berth finishing with 10-8 mark. The Wranglers beat Gamblers in Houston and the Express at Home. The team traveled to Tampa to meet the Stars of Philadelphia. Stars brutal beat the Wranglers, 23-3 and captured the title. In 1985 Season, Diethrich decided it was time to join forces with another team. The Wranglers eventually merged with Bill Tatham's Oklahoma Outlaws, and the Arizona Outlaws were born. |
