Synopsis:
The
Memphis Showboats, was original fleet of expansion six in 1984.
In 1984 Season, Reggie White led Showboats, grew steady but loyal
fan base. The team struggled with 2-7 record but finished with 7-11
record.
In the 1985 Season, the defense was much improved with help from
rookies and Reggie White grabbing 11.5 sacks. The Showboats improved
to 11-7 record. Memphis destroyed Denver in opening round of the
playoffs; scoring 35 in the second half alone, winning 48-7. Fun
stoped there, losing to Oakland Invaders, 28-19 in the final game
of the franchise. The 'Boats were scheduled to play in the 1986
season but the league folded. |
