Synopsis: The Oakland Invaders, original charter member of the league. Raiders headed south for Los Angeles, creating a lot of hungry fans in Oakland. The Invaders had strong fan base and good media coverage. Pacific Division Champions, finished 9-9, in weak division. Invaders were quickly eliminated in the Semifinals to eventual USFL Champions, Michigan Panthers, 37-21, in front of huge crowd at the Silverdome.

In 1984 Season, more teams and below average record for Bay Area squad. The Invaders finished 7-11 and missed the playoffs. The bright side for the Invaders, the team turned around a 0-9 start and went 7-2, the rest of the way.

In 1985 Season, can't beat 'em join 'em. Invaders and Panthers merged rosters and kept Oakland Invaders identity. The Panthers owner took over the club. Bobby Hebert and Charlie Sumner lead the team, to Western Conference crown and heartbreaking defeat in the last game in USFL history. Losing 28-24, on last drive which personal foul call cost the Invaders a chance at the end zone.
